Associate a specific collar or tag vibration to the command and voila! Fluffy sitting with a tap of a smartphone app. Some day, a wearable device might even lead your dog on his walk. The GPS and Vehicle Dynamics Lab at Auburn University is developing a doggy device that conveys direction-oriented commands over long distances without human contact. In the meantime, a joint project of the Georgia Institute of Technology and Google Glass is taking a closer look at ways to use technology to train working dogs. The FIDO (facilitating interactions for dogs with occupations) device is a doggy vest with a built-in microprocessor that is meant to make communication between dog and handler clear and easy. The dog wearing the vest activates different sensors by biting, tugging or putting his mouth near the sensors, which then transmit verbal commands handlers can hear through an earpiece. A bomb-sniffing dog, for example, could tell a handler exactly what kind of bomb the dog has discovered - all while the handler is a safe distance away. Metz, Rachel. Electronic cigarettes closely resemble the real thing. You're at your favorite restaurant, enjoying a meal. A diner at the next table is puffing on a cigarette, letting out a cloud of smoke. Because smoking isn't allowed in the restaurant, you're thinking about asking the smoker to put the cigarette out. But before you protest, consider this: Your neighbor may not be smoking at all. Electronic cigarettes, also known as smokeless cigarettes, e-cigarettes, or e-cigs, are an alternative method of consuming nicotine, the addictive chemical found in tobacco. Manufacturers often design e-cigarettes to look like regular cigarettes, but they contain no tobacco and don't require a match -- or any flame at all. There's no fire, no ash and no smoky smell. E-cigarettes do not contain all of the harmful chemicals associated with smoking tobacco cigarettes, such as carbon monoxide and tar. Manufacturers and satisfied customers say the e-cigarette is a healthier alternative to tobacco cigarettes, which cause millions of deaths every year.
A tyrannosaurus's teeth. Jaw are made for biting -- hard. When a T. rex closed its mouth, the lower teeth met the inside of the upper teeth, concentrating lots of force upward from the inside and downward from the outside. This force could break a bone just like you could break a stick if you bend it with two hands. Paleontologists have also analyzed a coprolite, or a pile of fossilizedT. This may mean that the dinosaur relied on picked-over bones for nourishment. To some, the presence of lots of broken teeth also suggests that T. rex chewed its way through bones out of necessity, damaging its teeth in the process. The scavenger theory applies to a tyrannosaur's body, too. There's also the matter of T. rex's almost comically undersized forelimbs, which would not be of use in breaking a fall or helping the animal regain its footing. Scientists also debate whether the dinosaur could run at all, and it would need to run to capture prey.|In accordance with today's scenario, chances are, you would prefer digital marketing tools over traditional mediums of communication like newspapers and radio etc. With the evolution of technology, marketing strategies have also developed. No longer can brands solely rely on the traditional communication channels. In order to reach and engage a maximum number of customers, digitization is important. Now, people are on a constant search for desired products at their preferred time and place. And to attain the same, they are using more and more communication channels than ever before to choose their preferred brand or product. Therefore, brands must now go beyond to build a strong base by engaging consumers wherever they are and knowing their likes for better product delivery. Brands are strengthening and creating an ever-lasting relationship with their customers. International brands like Proton, Panasonic, AIG, AIA, Celcom, CIMB, Panasonic, Acuvue Define, Urbanclap, Isetan and others have used this revolutionary mobile video advertising platform for personalized intercommunication and have earned better ROI.
It's not that different from using a remote control to change the channel on a television set. And it doesn't just have to shut down a camera; it could also turn a phone into an augmented reality device. Imagine directing your iPhone's camera at a sculpture in a museum. An infrared emitter mounted in the room beams a signal that provides additional data on your phone's display, giving you information about the artist, the techniques used to create the statue and more. You might be worried that authorities like law enforcement could use this technology to prevent citizens from recording their activities. But the tech works best when you have a situation like the concert or museum examples - you know where the audience will be and so you point the infrared emitter in that direction. In real-world settings, it's hard to determine where someone will be at any given moment. Besides, it would only work on iOS devices.
The Rolly didn’t quite make it commercially, but its innovative design will be hard to forget. You might have been perfectly content watching Rolly improvise its dance moves to "Billie Jean." Or perhaps you wished it would add just a little more flair with its arms as Michael Jackson hit the high notes. With the included Choreographer software, you could program dance moves galore for your little Rolly. The program analyzed your music for both tone and beat. In "automatic" mode, Rolly determined the most appropriate motion for each song's characteristics. Quick beats generally resulted in more excited motions, while slower, softer tunes meant a more subdued Rolly. Tone Analysis starts its job by checking a track for tone. In a musical scale, each octave has 12 detectable tones, which the software pinpoints. After registering tonal data and the timing of certain sounds, the program can pick up on other important characteristics like chords, tempo, beat, key and more.|This web app comes in handy when you need to cut a small video file. It does not require installation, and it works in your browser. Cropping allows you to frame the video to the desired area or change frame proportions. You can rotate your video 90, 180 or 270 degrees. It can be useful when a portrait scene was shot in a landscape mode or vice versa. The app supports almost every video format out there. If your file fails to open, then it is probably damaged or it is too big. After uploading your file, you can choose the quality and format of the output file. There are no complicated controls - every feature is just one or two clicks away. Your files are automatically deleted from our servers a few hours after you are done working with them. Nobody has access to them except you. The app can cut video files right in your browser window. Files of up to 4 GB are supported, and we are about to raise this limit.
